The Big Swiss Quiz 2020: Day 1 questions

December 7, 2020, 8 Comments

Welcome to my Big Swiss Quiz! Six great prizes (including tickets up to Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn or Titlis), great fun (who doesn’t love a quiz?) and guaranteed to cheer up December.

There are 30 questions, with six being posted each weekday this week. All you have to do is come back every day, answer the questions correctly and keep a note of the answers. Details of all the prizes and rules can be found here.

Deadline is 15 December.

Each answer is a whole number (no fractions or decimal points) and by the end, you’ll have 30 numbers. Add them together and that’s your total, which is your ticket to enter into the prize draw. So, here are the first six questions:

1. The picture above shows the train to Jungfraujoch, Europe’s highest station. How high up is the station (in metres)?

2. And in which year did it open to passengers?

Convent of St John

3. The convent of St John in Müstair is a Unesco World Heritage Site. How many sites does Switzerland have on the World Heritage List?

4. There are now three female Federal Councillors but how many have there been in total?

Appenzell

5. Appenzell is capital of the smallest canton in terms of population but what is that canton’s land area (in km²)?

6. Young Boys of Bern are the current Swiss football league champions. How many times have they won in total?

Don’t submit these answers yet!

Keep them handy and come back tomorrow for the next set of questions. But you’re now one step closer to winning tickets up to Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn or Titlis – or maybe some beautiful travel posters, ski passes or a signed book.

      Hi
Thanks for taking part but you don’t need to post the answers each day (and not only because it helps others!).
Just keep a note of your answers for all 30 questions and then add them together. That final total is the one you need to enter the prize draw.
      Good luck.

Question 5 – Is that the smallest canton? What about Basel-Stadt?

Hi. Sorry I phrased it badly. It’s the smallest in population but I want to know the area. I’ll reword it.
