Introducing Le Suissologue

August 12, 2013, 4 Comments

French edition of Swiss WatchingIt has taken some time but finally Swiss Watching is now in French! And it’s called Le Suissologue, a title which came about thanks to readers of this website – you may remember me asking for your help last November. The publisher is Helvetiq, based in Lausanne.

The English original was a bestseller, as was the German translation Der Schweizversteher. Here’s hoping that the public in Romandie like reading it in French too. It has certainly had a flying start, appearing on the main evening news programme on 1 August, with me tasting biscuits in the Kambly factory (one of my favourite pastimes). Luckily someone else provided the French voice!

And for those of you wanting to read this in French, sorry! My French hasn’t progressed much since I left school (my brain is now full of German), so instead here is what is written on the back of the book:

Thanks to the wonderful people at Helvetiq, the French edition has already been in the press, so you can read all about it here: Le Temps, 20 Minutes, L’Hebdo, Le Matin or listen to me on RTS Swiss radio (although as on TV the French is not my voice!). Or read this article from Tribune de Genève:

Tribune de Geneve

You can order Le Suissologue in your local bookshop (ISBN 9782940481040) or online from these places:

And also as an e-book on Kindle and iBook.

I loved Swiss Watching – I read it before we came to live in Switzerland to gain a better understanding of Swiss culture – found it tremendously useful. We are now based in le Canton de Vaud and I was delighted to read that le suissalogue is doing so well ( I bought Le Matin Dimanche in the Coop at the weekend ! ) Thank you Diccon, you describe the ins and outs of Swiss life so well, you have really helped with my integration. I wish you continued success.

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter
updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this.
Please let me know if you run into anything.
I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
